4. Third-Party Services

The Extension fetches real-time exchange rates from the following public APIs:

• exchangerate-api.com (primary API)
• open.er-api.com (fallback API)

Important: These API requests contain ONLY:

• The base currency (e.g., USD, EUR) to fetch rates for
• Standard HTTP headers (browser type, etc.)

No personal data, browsing history, or user information is sent to these services. These are standard API calls to retrieve public exchange rate data.

5. Permissions Explained

The Extension requires the following permissions:

Content Scripts (<all_urls>)

Why we need it: To detect and convert prices on any website you visit (e.g., Amazon, eBay, local shopping sites).

What we do: Scan webpage content for price elements and display currency conversions in hover tooltips.

What we DON'T do: Collect, store, or transmit any of your browsing data, shopping activity, or personal information.

storage Permission

Why we need it: To save your currency preferences and cache exchange rates on your device.

What we do: Store your settings locally so the extension remembers which currencies you want to see.

What we DON'T do: Upload your data anywhere or share it with anyone.

Host Permissions (API endpoints)

Why we need it: To download current exchange rates from public currency APIs.

What we do: Make standard API requests to api.exchangerate-api.com and open.er-api.com to get exchange rate data.

What we DON'T do: Send any of your personal data to these services. Only currency codes (like "USD", "EUR") are transmitted.

6. How the Extension Works

1. You install the extension and select your preferred currencies
2. The extension downloads exchange rates from public APIs
3. When you hover over a price on a webpage, the extension:
   • Detects the price amount and currency
   • Calculates conversions using locally cached rates
   • Displays a tooltip with converted prices
4. All processing happens locally on your device
5. No data is sent to our servers (we don't have servers!)

7. Data Sharing

We do NOT share any user data with third parties because we don't collect any user data.

The Extension does not:

• ❌ Share data with advertisers
• ❌ Transmit data to analytics services
• ❌ Send data to our servers (we don't have servers)
• ❌ Use tracking cookies or pixels

8. Children's Privacy

The Extension does not knowingly collect any data from children or anyone else. We do not collect data from any users.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

10. Your Rights
